Rider Registration Information
In order to provide the best therapeutic benefit and the safest environment for our students Riding Unlimited has established some guidelines for acceptance into the program.
It is recommended that clients be at least three years of age and have emerging head and neck control. Due to back problems in horses, weight guidelines have been established. Please refer to the Riding Unlimited Guidelines page in the Information Packet for the weight guideline chart.
Please review the list of precautions and contraindications (found on the cover letter to your health care provider). If the individual has one or more of these conditions, therapeutic riding may not be recommended. If the participant meets the initial criteria, complete the enclosed forms.
All forms must be thoroughly completed, many requiring a signature and date, and returned before you or your child can be enrolled. The Medical History & Physicians Statement form must be completed and signed by your physician.
When the forms are submitted to Riding Unlimited, a screening assessment will be conducted. This assessment may be conducted by a Riding Unlimited Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship, Int’l (PATH) (formerly NARHA) certified therapeutic riding instructor or a consulting therapist familiar with a therapeutic horseback riding program. Participants requiring therapist assessments may be periodically reassessed.
